I play the guitar and sing and over the years have written a few good songs. I have performed publicly at small coffeehouses and minor events but mostly I play for myself, family and friends. I have taken occasional guitar lessons but never studied formally and don't understand music very well. I am a touch envious of those capable of improvising and accompanying other players.

Although I have written songs it does not come easily. They are few and far between now. With passing time and other interests I wonder if I have written my last one.

In 1998 I recorded a CD at a local studio compiled of songs I had written in the last decade. It is just me and a guitar as I might play in my living room.

My only guitar, a nice old Martin. I bought it from my brother when I was 17 and have never owned another one. I replaced the tuners with Grovers long ago and had the saddle reglued once. The cat bounced it off a chair years back and put a ding in the sound board. It does not tune as true as a new one would, a bit of a nuisance when using a capo, but it still plays nicely.

I like the way it sounds, a brighter treble than most Martins I've played which tend to have that strong base. In this golden era of beautiful handcrafted guitars one can be tempted but this is probably enough guitar.
